What We Do
Pacific Yacht Ministries is administered and run by unpaid volunteers with a passion for making a real difference to the lives of people who are denied access to regular medical care. Small teams of properly trained and qualified medical professionals join the crew of sailing vessels in the Republic of Vanuatu and the Torres Strait Islands between Australia & Papua New Guinea to visit remote island villages and provide whatever help is needed. Teams include Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Dental Assistants, Optometrists, ENT specialists, Cooks and Crew.
Our area of operation is generally in the northern groups of islands including Espirito Santo, Banks and Torres Islands in the far north. Luganville (Santo) with its International Airport and safe anchorage is our base, where medical equipment, generators etc are stored during the off season. PYM is currently expanding its servies to the islands of the Torres Strait in Australia.
Pacific Yacht Ministries is supporting ministry approved as such and sponsored by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. While it is not a requirement that volunteers and crew be members of this denomination, it is expected that they will have read, and will abide by, the sentiments outlined in our core values whilst serving as a team member of PYM.
